Role Snapshot:
- Start Date: Immediate openings available
- Compensation: Competitive salary ranging from $13.85 to $18.35 per hour, based on certification level
- Location: West Campus, Tucson, AZ (with flexible scheduling, including evenings until 6:00 PM)
- Position: Tutor - Multiple Subjects (Temporary, Part-Time, up to 19.5 hours per week)
- Certification: College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) required within one year of employment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions, as well as embedded tutoring in classes, to support students in developing comprehension of subject coursework and improving study skills and habits
- Assist students with basic concepts, specific problems, homework, test preparation, and effective use of textbooks and instructional materials in virtual and in-person environments
- Offer students guidance on study skills and strategies to increase academic success and independence
- Provide encouragement and support to students in areas of self-confidence, study habits, and time management
- Report any problems or concerns with equipment or materials to the Learning Center Personnel
- Establish effective and cooperative relationships with diverse students and employees
Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Proven classroom excellence (grade A or B) in the subject(s) to be tutored
- Written Faculty recommendation for the subject(s) to be tutored OR vetting of content knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
- Tutoring experience
- Comfort tutoring multiple subjects
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong knowledge of subject areas, including mathematics, physics, writing, statistics, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, and nursing
- Ability to work effectively with diverse students and employees
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
