Operational Accounting Finance Manager

CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking an experienced Operational Accounting Finance Manager to oversee financial operations for a reputable client based in Lubbock, TX. In this role, you will manage university funds, ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations, and support audits and fund transactions. You will also focus on the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedural improvements, and automation projects. Employment Type: Direct Hire Location: Lubbock, TX (On-site) Salary: $70K - $80K per year Key Responsibilities: • Direct, coordinate, and evaluate the activities of personnel involved in the management of the university’s funds. • Contribute to the development and implementation of institutional policies, procedures, and training programs for university staff. • Engage in the testing and implementation of automation projects, including Dynamic Forms, Cognos reports, and IT applications. • Manage accounting functions related to Texas Research Incentive Program (TRIP), including maintaining the TRIP database and preparing annual AFR entries. • Perform fund close-out procedures and monitor assigned funds to ensure accurate reporting and compliance. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. • 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, particularly in higher education or governmental accounting. • Familiarity with Federal and State regulations, fund accounting, and institutional policies. • Experience with Ellucian Banner, Cognos, or other financial applications is highly preferred. • Knowledge of accounting functions related to research incentives and funding, as well as experience in performing compliance reviews and fund management. • Experience working with financial software such as Banner, Financial Applications, or Cognos. • Familiarity with fund accounting principles and regulations.
