About the Role: Patient Care Associate - Extended Care Unit, Nights
We're seeking a skilled and compassionate PCA to join our ECU team on a 24-hour night shift schedule. As a PCA, you'll work closely with our registered nurses and interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care, promote a safe and therapeutic environment, and support our patients' physical and emotional needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate understanding of comfort and safety measures required for our patient population
- Perform patient care activities as prescribed by registered nurses, based on established protocols
- Adhere to standards of care and maintain accurate documentation
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support new techniques and procedures
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and staff
- Comply with departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
- Attend meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed
- Demonstrate use of Quality Improvement in daily operations
- Respect diverse views and approaches, and contribute to creating a professional and respectful environment
Essential Qualifications:
- Certification as a Patient Care Associate (PCA) or equivalent experience
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- American Heart Association certification for healthcare providers (required upon hire or during orientation)
- Dr. Armstrong training (required during orientation and annually thereafter)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying physical demands
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an Extended Care Unit
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Basic Life Support Certification (required within 30 days of hire)
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong patient care skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying physical demands, including lifting, bending, and standing
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
