The Student Financial Services Counselor provides personalized financial services assistance to Hofstra students and families, organizing and handling all aspects of administration while adhering to university regulations.
Responsibilities
- Counsels students and parents concerning financial aid, bills, and payment
- Evaluates applications including performing needs analysis and determining eligibility for federal, state, and University awards
- Processes student account information and assists with outreach efforts both on campus and in the community, including high school night presentations
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 1 to 2 years relevant experience
- Valid driver's license
- Strong interpersonal, administrative, oral, and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of PC based word processing and spreadsheets
- Strong customer service skills
- Familiarity with computerized financial aid systems, especially Ellucian Banner preferred
- Knowledge of college financial aid and/or college student account processes
