Role Overview 10 – 20 hrs./month. Flexible schedule. Work from home. We are looking for a volunteer hybrid Shopify Developer/Online Store Manager to bridge the gap between our product catalog and our technical infrastructure. You will us in maintaining high-quality product data, optimizing our store for Google Ads performance, and building out custom backend functionality via PHP and Shopify APIs. Typical Examples of Work Data & Metafield Management: Configure and update Shopify Metafields (using Liquid or apps like Matrixify) to display custom product information. Ensure data consistency across large catalogs. Ad Optimization & Metadata: Enhance meta descriptions and structured data specifically to improve Google Ads' "Quality Score" and Click-Through Rate (CTR). Manage SEO-friendly titles and tags for merchant center syncing. Variant Architecture: Make precision adjustments to product variants, including pricing, SKU logic, and inventory mapping. Handle complex variant sets (e.g., size/color/material combinations). Backend Development: Develop and maintain custom PHP scripts or private apps that interact with the Shopify API. Integrate third-party APIs to automate workflows or sync external data. Skill Sets: Shopify Core: Thorough knowledge of Metafields, Variant logic, and Liquid templating Backend: Strong proficiency in PHP (Laravel or Slim framework experience is a plus). Ability to write clean, documented PHP code. APIs: Experience with Shopify Admin API (REST or GraphQL) and Webhooks. Marketing Tech: Thorough understanding of Google Merchant Center and metadata optimization. Tools: Familiarity with tools like Postman, GitHub, and Shopify CLI. And: Experience managing high-volume Shopify stores. It helps to have a "detail-obsessed" mindset— missing a single variant setting or a meta tag isn't an option for you.
