Role Overview
The Paraprofessional 1:1 position is designed to provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, ensuring that they receive the individualized attention and instruction necessary to achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities
- Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills, working individually and in small groups to implement assigned programs and activities.
- Support professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests, and assessments, helping to document student learning and performance.
- Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills, according to individual student needs, and help to maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
- Provide support with record-keeping procedures, documenting student progress and performance, and assist with parent contact as requested to foster effective and participatory parent involvement in student education.
- Accompany students on field trips, providing supervision and support, and assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, and achievement of IEP objectives.
- Participate in the IEP process and serve as a resource for the student personnel evaluation team as needed, helping to identify and address the unique needs of each student.
- Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living, maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities, and follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a combination of education, experience, and skills that provide the required knowledge for successful performance. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of college-level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
- Prior experience working with special needs children is desirable, although not essential, as we provide comprehensive training and support to all our staff members.
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in a special education setting, with a strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by students with special needs.
