Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Transcriptionist to join our team on a remote basis. As a Medical Transcriptionist, you will be responsible for transcribing and editing recorded material, verifying accuracy of patient information, and matching complaints to diagnoses using medical records. If you have a strong background in medical transcription, excellent English skills, and the ability to work independently, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe and edit recorded material, including patient histories and physicals, consult letters and notes, physician correspondence, x-ray reports, and other medical documents
• Verify accuracy of patient information, including name, identification number, and other relevant details
• Match complaints to diagnoses using medical records, reviewing specific date reports for every date of service transcribed
• Verify accuracy of transcription for correct punctuation, grammar, and spelling
• Research and correct dictated language into concise, accurate, and understandable text using appropriate reference materials
• Inform the Team Lead of any questions or inconsistencies in the dictated language that require assistance with correction
• Flag charts that are dictated in the incorrect pool for the supervisor to review and move to the proper pool
• Send demographic information regarding flagged dictations to the Transcription Assistant to be addressed by dictator(s)
• Meet the minimum daily line requirements as directed

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma required
• Formal training through an accredited transcription program preferred
• Five or more years of experience as a medical transcriptionist in a hospital, urgent care facility, or medical specialty preferred

Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices
• Excellent skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style
• Ability to use an extensive array of professional reference materials
• Ability to operate word processing equipment, dictation and transcription equipment, and other equipment as specified
• Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision
• Proficiency in a variety of Microsoft applications and software products, as well as transcription-specific software products
• Ability to concentrate and work under pressure with no time constraints
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
