About the Opportunity
We're working closely with our client, Texas Health and Human Services Commission, to find a highly skilled Senior Oracle SQL Database Administrator who can work on their W2. As a Senior Oracle SQL Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, maintaining, and improving database solutions that underpin the TIERS applications portfolio. This is a fantastic chance to work on high-impact projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and leverage your expertise in Oracle database technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Database Design and Development: Design, develop, maintain, and improve database solutions and the databases underlying the TIERS applications portfolio.
- Collaboration: Work closely with application development teams, business stakeholders, and other partners to enhance the TIERS applications portfolio and implement new solutions.
- Technical Expertise: Utilize advanced knowledge of Oracle database technologies, including Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and database automation, to align with Enterprise CI/CD workflows.
- Performance Tuning: Perform advanced logical database administration, performance monitoring, and tuning, and provide database-related support to application development teams.
- Agile Methodologies: Participate in Agile development practices, including backlog grooming and user story development.
- Troubleshooting: Provide application and database operations triage support to troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered in production, development, and test environments.
- Automation: Develop and modify existing Linux shell scripts to perform LDBA day-to-day tasks and specific tasks, and provide process documentation.
- CI/CD Workflow: Design and develop Enterprise CI/CD workflow for DB automation using automation orchestrator such as Jenkins or similar toolset.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in implementing, administering, managing, and monitoring application databases in production and non-production environments.
- Advanced knowledge and expertise in developing code and optimizing Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code.
- Experience with DB automation to align Enterprise CI/CD workflows and working with automation orchestrators such as Jenkins.
- Hands-on experience with APEX development.
- Experience working on or leading large, complex initiatives to design and implement performance tuning improvements.
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle internal views, built-in functions, and architecture to support data analysis and data query.
- Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex issues in development and production databases using Oracle 11/19c databases.
- Advanced knowledge and experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning SQL and PL/SQL on Oracle databases on Solaris/Linux systems.
- Experience using Oracle native tools such as Oracle SQL Developer.
- Hands-on experience using Erwin Modeling tool to create data models using data modeling techniques.
- Experience developing tools using SQL, PL/SQL, and Linux shell scripts to provide LDBA support.
- Hands-on experience with large development projects using Agile methodology.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, having previous experience working with state or government clients is highly desirable.
