About the Role
As a SEVERELY LEARNING IMPAIRED/MULTI DISABILITIES TEACHER, you will play a critical role in supporting students with severe or multiple disabilities to meet or exceed grade-level standards. You will draw on your knowledge of each student's personality, background, and interests to discuss learning issues, achievements, and conduct in class. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting, counseling, and motivating students to achieve academic success
- Adhering to and implementing safety and security procedures
- Contributing to creating a school climate conducive to learning, achievement, and citizenship
- Performing other duties as assigned
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of students with severe or multiple disabilities
- Use a range of teaching strategies and techniques to engage students and promote learning
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Classroom Management
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes social and emotional growth
- Establish and maintain a structured and predictable classroom routine
- Use proactive strategies to manage challenging behaviors
- Foster a sense of community and respect among students
Collaboration and Communication
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other support staff to meet the needs of students
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians through regular updates and progress reports
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of school-wide policies and procedures
Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Experience
- A major in special education or a minimum of 30 semester hours in special education is required
- Course work must include a minimum of 12 semester hours directly related to severe or multiple disabilities
- Typical courses include the nature of intellectual disability, use of adaptive equipment, augmentative communication and equipment, adaptive physical education, and family support
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with students with severe or multiple disabilities
- Knowledge of best practices in special education and evidence-based instructional strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $56,265 - $136,499 per year. In addition to a competitive salary, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including:
