Job Overview

We are hiring a Student Assistant to support the Resources, Planning, and Management section of the CDPH Tuberculosis Control Branch. This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position that offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in public health and make a meaningful contribution to the control and prevention of TB in California. As a Student Assistant, you will play a key role in assisting with the development and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and workflows for various operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and analyze existing procedures and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and standardization
• Draft clear, concise, and accurate Standard Office Procedures (SOPs) using established templates and guidelines
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and completeness of SOPs
• Map out current workflows to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies
• Design and implement improved workflows to streamline processes and enhance efficiency
• Develop visual representations of workflows, such as flowcharts or diagrams
• Organize and maintain a centralized repository of SOPs and workflows
• Ensure that all documents are up-to-date and easily accessible

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

• Currently enrolled in a relevant academic program, such as public health, health administration, or a related field
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with documenting operational processes
• Familiarity with Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Interest in public health
• Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority

Work is performed in a hybrid environment, with the option to work from home in accordance with the current UEI remote workplace policy. Students/Employees will be required to sign a UEI Work from Home Agreement and adhere to the terms of the agreement.
