About the Role
As a Homebound Tutor, you will play a vital role in our Homebound Services program, which provides tutoring for students whose classroom activities have been disrupted by a medical condition. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver instruction at the student's home, ensuring that they receive the academic support they need to stay on track with their peers. Key Responsibilities
- Ability to work flexible hours Monday-Friday when school is in session, with a willingness to travel to students' homes
- Coordinate and collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues to schedule sessions and ensure seamless communication
- Teach prescribed academic coursework in students' homes, with a parent or caretaker present, and adapt instruction to meet the unique needs of each student
- Communicate with students' teachers about progress and/or assignment completion, and maintain accurate records on students' progress
- Collaborate with colleagues regarding student assignments and contribute to the development of individualized learning plans
- Other duties as assigned, with a focus on providing exceptional support to students and their families
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
- Valid Professional Educators Teaching License with endorsements in Special Education (required) and Early Childhood Education (preferred)
- Experience working with students who have medical issues, and a strong understanding of the challenges they face
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working in a homebound or remote learning environment
- Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation, with a focus on meeting the unique needs of students with medical conditions
- Familiarity with educational technology and digital tools, with a willingness to leverage these resources to support student learning
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students and families from diverse linguistic backgrounds
