Key Responsibilities
- Teach classes in medical assisting, both online and in-person, as assigned
- Prepare for classes by organizing and becoming familiar with student material
- Develop and implement lesson plans and course materials as required
- Objectively assess students for academic performance and provide regular feedback
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and set a positive example for students
- Utilize instructional plans and learning management systems to enhance student learning
- Monitor student attendance, academic performance, and behavioral concerns, and report to program directors as needed
- Facilitate tutoring and makeup work, and refer students to program directors or academic deans as necessary
- Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and progress
Instructional Duties
As a Medical Assistant Instructor, you will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and guidance to students in a variety of settings, including classrooms, labs, clinical sites, and online platforms. Your primary goal will be to ensure that students receive a comprehensive education in medical assisting, and that they are prepared to succeed in this field.
- Instruct classes as assigned, using a variety of teaching methods and materials

- Assess student performance and provide regular feedback, using a variety of evaluation tools and methods
- Utilize instructional plans and learning management systems to enhance student learning and engagement
- Supplement approved student materials as required, and ensure that all instructional materials are up-to-date and relevant
Student Interaction
As a Medical Assistant Instructor, you will interact with students on a daily basis, providing guidance, support, and feedback. You will be responsible for maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment, and for ensuring that students feel supported and motivated.

- Proactively inform program directors of any student attendance, academic, or behavioral concerns

Related Duties
In addition to instructional duties, you will be responsible for a variety of related tasks, including record keeping, scanning, and other administrative tasks. You will also be expected to participate in ongoing faculty and professional development activities, including continuing education units (CEUs) and other training programs.

Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must have a strong background in medical assisting and teaching. The following requirements and qualifications are preferred:
- Current and competent in the MAERB Core Curriculum objectives, as evidenced by education and/or experience
- Minimum of three years of related practical work experience in the occupational field associated with the training provided
- Instruction in educational theory and techniques
- Registered or certified Medical Assistant (MAERB)
- Previous teaching experience strongly desired
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience in phlebotomy, immunizations, venipuncture, injections, pharmacology, EKG, wound care, GYN procedures, and vital signs
- Proficiency in dosage calculations helpful
- Documentation, computer skills, administrative competency, EHR (electronic health records), and practice management knowledge helpful
