About Our Company and the Role
As a Behavior Technician at WEAP, you'll have the opportunity to work with children aged 18 months to school age who have autism and special needs. Our team is dedicated to delivering applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy, a play-based approach that helps kids build essential skills and achieve their full potential. With our comprehensive training program and supportive staff, you'll gain the skills and confidence you need to succeed in this role and advance your career in behavior analysis and related fields.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with children with autism and special needs in their homes or in one of our centers, implementing ABA therapy plans and activities to promote skill development and positive behavior.
- Collaborate with our team to deliver high-quality care and support to clients, ensuring that their needs are met and their goals are achieved.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices in ABA therapy and behavior analysis.
- Build strong relationships with clients and their families, providing emotional support and guidance as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and data to inform treatment plans and progress monitoring.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional growth, with opportunities for career advancement and promotion within as little as six months.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed as a Behavior Technician at WEAP, you'll need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Availability to work a consistent weekly schedule, including mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings.
- The ability to pass a background check.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- A genuine desire to help children with autism and their families achieve their goals.
- Strong compassion, empathy, enthusiasm, kindness, goodwill, and reliability.
- A willingness to learn about autism, learning differences, and ABA therapy.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications can give you a competitive edge:
- Bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
- A degree or coursework in psychology, education, special education, child care, behavioral health, health science, or a related field.
- Experience working with children, such as babysitting, nannying, tutoring, teaching, coaching, or camp counseling.
Physical Requirements
As a Behavior Technician, you may be required to:
- Push, pull, lift up to 35 pounds, and move quickly according to client needs.
- Sit on the floor, stoop, stand, walk, and run.
