Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal analysis, review, and interpretation of contracts and documents, maintaining a broad knowledge of legal issues and operating requirements.
- Collaborate with the Compliance and Regulatory Affairs team to analyze federal and state laws and regulations as they relate to company business, ensuring compliance and mitigating risk.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts and agreements, leveraging your expertise to protect company interests.
- Provide strategic counsel to senior management on legal matters, including contracts, corporate law, regulatory matters, business practices, and policies.
- Oversee legal information request compliance functions and litigation support, including managing hold notices, subpoenas, and exigent requests.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for law enforcement interactions on behalf of Mom's Meals, ensuring effective communication and cooperation.
- Offer expert guidance to Human Resources on employment law issues, managing employment-related disputes and litigation.
- Foster strong relationships with external counsel, ensuring effective collaboration and management of third-party legal services.
- Design and deliver legal training to relevant stakeholders within Mom's Meals, promoting legal awareness and compliance.
- Perform other duties as necessary to support the achievement of Mom's Meals' strategic goals and objectives.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited institution.
- Active membership in good standing of the Bar.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience advising companies on legal affairs, managing deadlines, and supervising a team.
- Proven experience in overseeing general contracting and supporting Human Resources in areas such as EEOC disputes, workers' compensation, and employment law matters.
- Prior in-house counsel experience in a manufacturing organization is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and legal and business judgment, with the ability to influence others and build strong professional relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly.
- Strong collaboration and partnership skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Excellent critical thinking skills, including the ability to prioritize issues and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Project management skills and experience, with the ability to drive projects forward and achieve desired outcomes.
- The ability to work independently in a remote environment, with a strong sense of self-motivation and discipline.
