About the Role

As a Secondary Math Teacher at Lake Forest High School, you'll play a vital role in shaping the minds of our students and inspiring a love of mathematics. Key Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated, ensuring that students receive high-quality instruction and support.
• Plans a program of study that is based on and meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students, promoting academic excellence and inclusivity.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, supportive of positive behavior structure, and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor or principal, demonstrating a commitment to teaching and learning.
• Attends and participates in scheduled IEP meetings, working closely with the Special Education Coordinator and classroom teachers to plan inclusion activities for special needs students as needed.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required, ensuring that students are meeting their academic goals.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, maintaining a safe and secure learning environment.
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by the law, district policy, and administrative director, demonstrating a commitment to accountability and transparency.

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the certification requirements of the State of Delaware Department of Education for Secondary Math certification. Dual certification is desirable but not required. You should also have:

• A strong background in mathematics education, with a deep understanding of the subject matter and the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
• Experience in teaching and learning, with a proven track record of success in promoting student achievement and academic excellence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
