About the Role: Substitute Teacher
We're seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our community of educators in Newark, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to work on your own schedule while making a difference in the lives of students. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in various educational settings, including elementary, middle, and high schools.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, ensuring continuity and consistency in the classroom.
- Build positive relationships with students, teachers, and school staff, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Adapt to diverse classroom settings and needs, demonstrating flexibility and a growth mindset.
- Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your designated Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback, develop your skills, and address any concerns.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through free online training and resources, enhancing your teaching practices and staying up-to-date on best practices.
Essential Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits.
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor.
- NJ Substitute Credential.
- Background check and TB risk assessment (Scoot Education will cover the cost).
- Full COVID-19 vaccination.
- A passion for education and putting students first.
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role.
- Specialized training or certifications in areas such as Special Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), or STEM education.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and adapting to various classroom settings.
